Don't Call It a 'Salad' 🥗


Salad

It has to be the number 'go to' food for anyone that's dieting

  • You get to eat a ton of food
  • It contains a lot of fiber (which is filling)
  • It has lots of nutrients (y'know for health)
  • It has very few calories

Add some Chicken, Turkey or Tuna for some lean protein, and you've got the perfect meal, whether you're dieting or not

It ticks all the boxes ✅

Or does it Reader?

Just because you call it a salad, doesn't mean that it's low in calories ❌

Sure, you could have a ton of veg on your plate (or in your bowl)

  • Romaine lettuce 🥬
  • Carrot 🥕
  • Tomatoes 🍅
  • Onion 🧅
  • Cucumber 🥒
  • Celery
  • Radishes

But if your salad also has;

  • Cheese 🧀
  • Oil
  • Fried croutons
  • Mayo
  • High-calorie dressing (e.g. Ceasar)
  • Bacon 🥓
  • Fried onion

Chances are, it's not going to be as low-calorie as you think it is

What's the point of this email?

Well, just because you give a meal a certain label e.g. 'a salad'

It's doesn't automatically mean it's going to be a good, filling, low-calorie diet food

It could be the total opposite

I get loads of people coming to me wanting to lose weight telling me they "eat loads of salad"

It means nothing

All that matters is how many calories you eat - and most people don't have a clue about that

The good news is, it works the other around too

Most people tend to see a burger as a terrible choice when it comes to diet food 🍔

But if it;

  • Has a lean chicken patty
  • Is packed with lettuce and tomato
  • Has some low-fat cheese
  • Has ketchup instead of Mayo

There's no reason it couldn't be lower in calories than a 'salad'

If you're trying to lose weight, calories are everything

Your body doesn't care if you're eating salads, burgers, pizzas, or pies, if you get your calories right, you will lose weight

So if you think you're eating healthy but still not losing weight, then it's time to get into the detail
