The Danager of Starting 'Next Week'

"I'll start next week"

How many times have you made that promise to yourself?

Only to let 52 weeks go by having done nothing 📆

Saying you'll start next week gives you a get-out clause Reader

It buys you time

Time to come up with an excuse as to why you can't start when you said you would

"I'll start in January" is the 'on steroids' version of this

It's a brand new year

So everything will be different right?

You'll be motivated 💪

Christmas is 'out the way' 🎄

You'll have the new workout gear, the Apple Watch with the fancy health monitoring, and the new Airpods ⌚

'Time to hit it hard' 👊

Except you don't

You start off motivated but that fades within 3 weeks

Christmas is out the way but then it's your best friends birthday in Feb (and your holiday in March, and a big wedding in May)

You use your Gymshark gear for sitting on the sofa eating Pringles

The only activity your Apple Watch records is you binging season 3 of that highly addictive Netflix show. 📺

Nothing has changed

Why is so hard to start?

Because you don't start

If you just take the first step, the rest will take care of itself

But you HAVE to do it

If you start with me before Christmas, we don't have to go hard

We can just spend a month tracking what you already do

Eat a 2,000 calorie treat after dinner? Fine 🍩

No judgement from me

When January comes around, you will have already built your tracking habits 🧱

You'll know WHEN and WHERE you go wrong, so you'll know what to fix

And we should have a near-perfect idea of how much you should eat, and how much you should move

You get to enjoy December 🎉🍷🍺

But we'll be armed to the teeth with data by January

Ready to attack

January is finally over You made it Reader, well done 👍 It's still pretty cold and dark, but we're through the most depressing month of the year I'm guessing you would have tried to lose weight in Jan though... How did it go? Did you; a) Commit to the gym 6x times a week, get burned out after 3 weeks and quit? 🥵 b) Give up any food and drink that brings you any joy, get bored after 4 weeks and quit? 🥗 c) Get into a reasonable calorie deficit and start walking for 30-60 minutes a day? 📉 If the...

You want to lose your belly Just say it Reader This isn't about 'skyrocketing your confidence' Or 'being the best version of yourself' Or 'building mental resilience in all areas of life' You don't need any of that You don't want any of that You just want to lose some fat so you look better in and out of clothes That's it Once you admit to yourself, you'll make everything so much easier You don't need to be; Drinking lemon water 🍋 Getting precisely 8.6 hours of sleep every night 🛌 Training...

Don't worry, it's not what it sounds like (I've never set foot inside my local massage shop and I don't think I want to) 😕 What actually caught my eye was the poster on the front door "Fast Weight Loss for £10" COME ON PEOPLE. It's 2025 Fast Weight Loss for Ten British Pounds... Seriously? If it were that easy, no one would be fat We'd all pay a tenner, get our dream physique and live happily ever after We know it doesn't work like that. It's not that easy (although weight loss is very...
