Too Scared to Diet?! 👻


I didn't even intend this to coincide with Haloween, but here we are

This is a weird one Reader

And it mostly applies to men (but it can affect women too)

For most people weight loss is exciting

You want to get it done as quickly as possible

When you start seeing results it's motivating and you want MORE

It leaves you feeling better mentally and physically

And all your clothes fit again 👖

All awesome things

But there are certain people that get spooked when they start losing weight, and they fall into a specific category 👻

People that have worked hard to build muscle

If you're one of these people, I know exactly what you think when you start losing fat

"I don't want to lose my gainz"

You assume that, because of all that muscle mass you have, when you lose fat you'll be shredded like a Mr Olympia competitor

But you drop your calories 📊

Things are going great. at first...

The scales are going down 📉

Then suddenly, one day your favourite t-shirt doesn't feel as tight on your arms anymore 💪

"shit I'm losing muscle I need to stop now"

You stop dieting because you think you've sacrificed years of hard work

What's actually happened is;

  1. You've lost some muscle glycogen because you're eating less, so your muscles feel less 'full' (this can be replenished at any time)

2. You've lost some fat on your chest, shoulders and arms which you thought was muscle

The sad truth is, most people have a lot less muscle than they think

And when they start losing fat, their 'true' level of muscle is revealed

Unfortunately, if you want to get more defined abs, you're gonna have to lose fat everywhere

It's FAR better to be honest with yourself about how much muscle you actually have, get to a level of body fat you're happy with, then fine-tune from there

People with the best physiques commit to either losing fat or building muscle

They get the job done, then move on to the next phase

If you keep darting around between two separate goals, you'll never get anywhere

My philosophy is;

Lose fat first

Do it properly

And you'll only need to do it once
