Your Body Doesn't Care


Ok I hate to admit it

But summer's over

The big coat isn't out just yet

But I don't think my Gymshark shorts will see the light of day for another 7 months

Soon it'll feel too cold to leave the house and you'll be planning on how many thousands of calories you can squeeze in on Christmas Day

For people trying to lose weight, this is a time they can come unstuck

Yes, Christmas can compound the problem, but it's really late October > December where the damage is done

YOU might think that you're 'excused' from doing all your steps because it's raining outside 🌧

But your body doesn't know or care about that

If you've been losing weight doing 8,000 steps a day

And you reduce that to 3,000 steps a day because the 'weather has been awful'

That might sound rational in your head

It sure sounds rational to me...

But your body doesn't care

Your body isn't going to give you a free pass, and carry on using the same amount of calories, just because it's been raining a lot

If you want to carry on losing weight, you're gonna need to invest in a good waterproof and carry on with those 8,000 steps

The same goes for food

I get it, it's cold outside and you want to spend more time on the sofa eating junk

Getting takeaways is a form of entertainment when it is cold and dark out

I understand that

But your body doesn't

All your body knows is that you're shoving more calories into it

The point of this email is, at this time of year, it seems totally normal to;

  • Eat and drink more calories
  • Do less activity

But if you do, it won't be consequence-free

You won't not gain weight, just because it's winter

It's fine to do these things, you just need to lower your expectations when it comes to weight loss
